SWIDIC: Challenge 10

The theme this fortnight is Layers.
The DT were given some gorgeous purple digi papers called Zen Papers by JLJ Designs, this fortnights sponsor - these are all colour coordinated and the patterns fit in well with each other making it very easy to layer them up on a page like I did.

The background sheet is cream and textured; I edged it with a purple ink pad to brink the colours together, I also did this on each of the sheets of paper I backed the main photo onto. I then placed a chipboard frame on top.
The title "Princess" is a rub on.

Scrapping with I did it Creations - Challenge 9

We're in that time of year again when all the ghost & ghouls come out to play.... at least thats where my thoughts are turning to. I have sorted all my past Halloween photos out to do some scrapping, so when I got the latest challenge from Scrappng With I did Creations I was like woohoo!!! Make a page of Halloween or other holiday .... The Design Team we're also sent some GORGEOUS digital papers to use by Stampin Dragon Designs, all in beautiful oranges of different shades and patterns.

I made slits in a sheet of paper and weaved the digital papers I'd printed and made into strips.
The main photo was mounted twice (me about to devour a cuddly mouse), and the smaller photo, along with the cat picture was mounted once onto black. For the journalling (merely my name & date) I stamped a piece of fawn paper & then aged it with brown ink.

The photos are of me at the age of 8, dressed unusually as a cat for Halloween, I say unusually as I much prefered to dress as a witch when younger, & then a devil when older.

Scrapping with I did it Creations: Challenge #8

Theme: Fonts only no photos. Embellishments are OK

Well this challenge really was a challenge for me! I havent made a scrapbook page before that doesnt contain a photo.So I began thinking about written things that I wanted to remember, a story, a poem, maybe doing a birth chart with things such as birth stone etc on.

I decided on a "poem" I'd once been sent in an email with a moral that I love - I updated it slightly changing nintendo 64 for an xbox 360, as well as the TV programme. I also decided to go out of my own comfort zone & scrap in green, & **shock horror** PINK!!!! I liked how it turned out....

The design team were given Fun & Funky digital alpha set by Floppy Latte, who is kindly sponsoring this challenge. I altered the colours to green to make them fit in with my page.

Scrapping with I Did It Creations: Challenge 7

Its a Guy Thing

The Challenge over at Scrapping with I did it Creations is to make a Masculine Scrapbook page.
The prize is a $5 coupon to use on any of the Toucan Scraps range, who is also kindly sponsoring us this fortnight.

Well living with all males (apart from myself & 1 female cat) I had plenty of choice when it comes to "Masculine" photos.
The design team had to work with some gorgeous denim style digital paper by Toucan Scraps called "Dungarees" As you can see I used a blue denim sheet that I printed out for the background.
I printed off a photo of Kai, covered in baked bean sauce after feeding himself, & then rounded the corners to go with the rest of the design I had planned. I wanted everything rounded, like the baked beans, which is why I chose that particular orange paper (very beany I thought, lol), the round beads that spelt "beans" and the curved rub on frame that I put onto a white sheet of paper & cut out to journal on.
I think all the oranges & blues go wonderfully together, especially as they are the main colours in the photo.

For the heading "Bon Appetit" I used a SRM sticker from the food range that I had won over on the All About Me Message Board. I find the all about me blog inspirational & helps a lot when trying to blog about myself so my children, & generations to come will have an insight into "Me" when I am gone.

Scrapping with I Did It Creations: Challenge 6

This fortnights challenge is "Books" over at Scrapping with I did it Creations. Just make a scrapbook layout - any size, any style, but it must involve books.

I made a page about Zack dressing up as Charlie bone for World Book Day. I tried to make it look like a book in the same style as the Charlie Bone front pages are done.

Have you seen those cute little mice & books in the bottom right corner? They balance the page up nicely and give it its "triangle" for the eye to follow round the page. They were part of our DT challenge and are one of the Stitchy Bear images, who is also sponsoring this challenge, kindly donating a $5 voucher to spend on their products. I coloured them in, as usual, with promarkers.
I added foam pads to the back of the books to make them stand out, on the page.
I took a tag from my stash pile and inked it up with purple and gold ink to make it match the page better and added a tassle so it was a bit more bookmark like. I the wrote my journalling on it.

Flourishies & Swirls - SWIDIC Challenge #4

This fortnights challenge with Scrapping with I did it Creations is with the prompt "Flourishes & Swirls"Looking through my photos I came across a picture of me putting my curly hair over Kai's bald head (he has a lovely head of hair now, but it was very wispy when he was small). I decided this photo was perfect with the theme.

The photo reminded me of old vintage photos of curly haired babies posing so I decided to go for an almost vintage look and made it slightly sepia (the quality on the photo wasnt great in the first place as it was done with a mobile phone and was far to over exposed).

The DT were given some digital papers to use, Cafe Creme from the I did it Creations Shop , all in creams and browns, perfect for the layout. I printed out onto textured card to give it extra depth.

I wrote the journaling on a sticker which I had inked the edges of, it reads
"Kai had very little hair when he was small so I placed my hair over his head to see what he'd look with spiral curls like mine, 27th Oct 07"

I tried to mimic old scrapbooks with my layout of the photo & journalling. To pull it all in I added peels off flourishes to create corners and coloured in sticker letters to match the colours.

Scrap a fantasy

This fortnights challenge over at Scrapping with I did it Creations was to Scrap a fantasy;
Anything that could be considered a fantasy. A child's storybook, a trip to Disneyworld, fairies, dreams. What is your Fantasy?

We were given a digital 3d decoupage sheet to print out and use, you dont have to but they are well worth a look at, and The Crafty Purple Frog who sells them is also sponsoring this challenge. Her sheets are not only for use with scrapbooking but are also great with card making as well.

With 2 lads you probably wouldnt think I'd be able to do a page using fairies, but I did, yay! Because Kai had had a visit from the dummy fairy

I used the fairy sheet from DCWVs "Once upon a time" & cut out the centre. I added the lovely 3d decoupage from The Crafty Purple Frogs "the glance" sheet. I then stuck some pearlescent vellum onto the back (I wish you could see the gorgeous sheen on it but it just wouldnt show on camera) to write on So my writing was straight(er, lol) I then placed lined paper behind just while I wrote. I added stickers whenever certain nouns popped up, such as "Dummy" or "Kai". The ones of Kai I printed a photo onto blank labels to use.

On the layout you can just about see at the bottom a photo of Kai asleep, without his dummy (yay) & the bag full of his dummys.

Some scrapping news...

Some of you may have noticed in my side bar that I am now part of the "Scrapping with I Did It Creations", yay!!

If you pop on over theres a new challenge for this fortnight, you have to make a layout using the following sketch...

Heres my translation of the sketch...

I mounted a picture of Kai shaking a dandelion clock onto a sheet I'd printed out of orientalbeauty1 from I did it creations Oriental Beauty Papers, this reflected the red in the picture and gave the impression of heat (it was a gorgeous sunny day).
This was then mounted onto a sheet of white speckled card which I tore at the edges. I also used this card to do a tag which I inked at the edges & wrote my journalling on. I made a hole in it and threaded through some fluffy thread I'd folded into 3 & tied in the middle. I though it looked a bit like a dandelion clock.
I added a chipboard clock and the lettering. I finished off by mounting it onto a sheet of 8x8 I'd printed of orientalbeautypaper4 from I did it creations Oriental Beauty Papers, I find it looked best when printed on good quality card with a slight gloss to it after setting the printer settings to "best photo".
