Scrapbooking: Bring on the Snow

Another challenge on UKS is the monthly Old Stash New Stash. I followed the sketch for this months &came up with this......

Scrapbooking: Grass

I misted a piece of white 12x12 paper with green mist, making sure the main part of it hit the edge.
I cut zigzags out of 3 sheets of patterned green paper and stuck them over the mist. After mounting the photos & sticking them down I simply added a strip of lace, stickers, the journalling & the title.

Scrapbooking: Summer Hols.

A large number of my Scrapbook pages are about what we've done during the summer holidays so I like to make a layout of photos to kind of summerise what we've got upto.

Scrapbooking: Snownanny

With getting closer to completing my 2009 albums I browse through them to find any pages I'm not happy with. My snownanny page was one that just didnt sit right with me.

This is how it started, as you can see from the image above I've kept much of it the same with only the red background really being the change having removed the dots & snowflake punched strips.

My eyes sit far more comfortably on it now :)

Scrapbooking: Pavement Picasso

I have had stored in a box a couple of sheets of paper with the kids footprints on since 2009, I knew they'd come in handy when I scrapbooked about them playing with the paints outside, the same time that I got them to stand on the paper for me with their feet (& the rest of them) covered in paint.

Scrapbooking: Transformer Love

Making Optimus Prime out of paper, with all those tiny fiddly parts, it has to be a labour of love

Scrapbooking: Love

I dont usually go for strong patterned papers for backgrounds but I think because I kept everything simple, and the colours are muted it worked.

Wednesday 17 July 2013

Scrapbooking: Horse Riding

This is my favourite page so far this year...
Why?  because of the use of the 2 large photos in contrast to the smaller ones and the silhouette of the horse and rider. For once I didnt hand cut it out I used my craft robo. I need to get it out more often & learn how to use it properly as it can do such wonderful things, once I know how.

Scrapbooking: Piece of Cake

A great way to use up scraps of paper, matching them up with the colours in the photo.

Monday 15 July 2013

Scrapbooking: Minecraft

Sometimes getting information out of a teenager can be rather hard going but I have finally finished the back of the scrapbook page I started AGES ago that you can see HERE. I say its the back as the blue patterned paper is actually acetate, you dont see the red so the page on the otherside has to mirror anything above the green.

I included zacks minecraft username & skype name as in the future these are bound to change as he gets older and I thought it would be interesting to look back on.

Scrapbooking: Ice Skating

I love my pack of Winter Park by Echo Park, it has come in so handy for snowy pages, and lends itself perfectly to this ice skating page as well, giving a lovely chilly feeling.

The ice skates are Jolees boutique stickers which are of a really high quality.

The photos here were actually taken by 3 people, myself, my Mom & Kai, all of which are in the photos as well, playing pass the parcel with the camera comes in very handy.

Scrapbooking: Fourteen

Oh xcut cog dies, how I do adore thee!

You might remember that I spent ages one day making a scaled paper iphone (if not you can take a look at it HERE). Now you can get paper with iphones printed all over it! perfect for a scrapbook page about Zacks birthday where his main present was an iphone.

Scrapbooking: Loads of Bubbles

Its rather hard to see but the backing sheet has circle rings on that look like bubbles, easy to see in real life but they would not let me get a good photo of them
I masked off the area with a couple of buttons as well as my circular nesties, over lapping some of them.

I had a black & white photo of Kai as well as a coloured one but neither really worked for me so I combined the two, cutting Kai out in colour & sticking him onto the b/w photo.

As the huge mound of bubbles was taking all the attention to that rather boring left handside of the photo I decided that would be the perfect place for the title - it doesnt hide the bubbles, it doesnt detract them from being a large part of the story but it does balance the photo a lot better.

Scrapbooking: Diamond Jubilee

Theres something so british about pinwheels and bunting, especially when done in red & blue.

Wednesday 10 July 2013

Scrapbooking: Nice

Now, to read this title you have to say it in a specific way, you cant read it in that sweet, higher pitched "nice" meaning thats sweet, pleasant, etc. It has to be read as a teenage lad, slightly deeper in tone, with it going down in tone to mean cool, acceptable, smart etc. Understand?

A teen style page that I doodled a thick underline on to try & match the type of patterns on the letters & skull.
Who knew I could get something from the gorjuss girls do-crafts line on a boys page! Thats where the striped washi tape came from as well as the washi tape frame I entered the date on.

Scrapbooking: Happy Haunting

My favourite time of year, halloween, and as such is one of my favourite subject to scrapbook. It gives me a good excuse to use some of my favourite images such as spiders webs, skeletons, & bats.

Monday 8 July 2013

Scrapbooking: Asleep

The cat prints on this layout were made by cutting foam with a die cutter & then using it as a stamp. Didnt stamp brilliantly but I think that added to the effect. Plus I can always use it another time as a teddy bear .... whats that? You dont understand how a cats paw print can be used as a teddy bear?
Here's how...
Isnt that soooooooo cute! Have to admit that I nicked this piccy off the net as though my cat let me draw on its feet it would not let me take a photo! Does it not understand that we scrapbookers NEED photos?

Sunday 7 July 2013

Scrapbooking: MCM Midlands Comic Con 2007

I love Sci-fi, absolutely adore it, so its rather enjoyable to do a scrapbook page about this subject. I surprised even myself in making it a rather simpler than I expected..

For the title I simply printed off the heading the event uses it self, mounted it onto black & raised it with foam pads. I then stuck to those colours for the rest of the page.

Any sci-fi fans recognise the "writing" above the title?

Friday 5 July 2013

Scrapbooking: fa la la la la

The challenge over at UKS was to use lyrics, notes, hidden journalling & metal so I combined this with the sketch over at sketchbook365.

Wednesday 3 July 2013

Scrapbooking: Kai's World

I'm loving using these large sunbursts on scrapbook pages & they are so easy to make your own. It gave such a happy, warm feel to this page, just the way this day was.

Tuesday 2 July 2013

Scrapbooking: Hoo Farm

I had all sorts of ideas for scrapbooking my photos from Hoo Farm, but when I saw this 12x12 sheet with a large cow in a field on it I knew I had to use it for this.

I matched the colours of the paper on the left with the green grass & yellow flowers.

The journalling "sign" is made from a wood panel patterned sheet which I trimmed the edge of to make it look like broken wood. I then white washed leaving a slight border and while wet wiped a bit of the paint off the edges of each board to define the a bit more. Once dry this was great for writing & stamping on.

Scrapbooking: Chinese

I have had several photos to scrapbook, from different days, but on the same subject, same kind of photo, pose and its a challenge to think of new ways to show them off. This time I went with very simple.

The dragons & flowers I'd been given quite a while ago now and are beautifully delicate, fine cut out tissue paper.
